For most people, buying a home is the most important (and expensive) transaction that they will undertake in their lives. For some, buying a property is an investment designed to make life more comfortable in the years ahead. In either case, when something goes wrong, the fallout from that will be expensive, time-consuming, and emotive. It is important to know the various options open to clients who find themselves in those situations, and to be able to guide them through those.

This seminar will focus, firstly, on the different types of residential property dispute that arise, including:

  • Breach of missives
  • Boundary disputes
  • Access disputes
  • and will consider the merits of different forms of dispute resolution in relation to those.

The seminar will then turn to the buy-to-let market and will cover the following:

  • Private Residential Tenancies
  • The transfer of civil jurisdiction to the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland (Housing and Property Chamber)
  • The event begins at 2pm. Delegate registration is open from 1:30pm.

Stephanie is a Partner in Shepherd and Wedderburn's litigation and dispute resolution team specialising in property disputes, primarily in the rural and residential sectors as well as handling a number of real estate disputes. She also advises private clients in relation to a variety of contentious matters, including challenges to wills and neighbour disputes.
