A 4 hr course designed to satisfy LSS Peat 2 requirements.

Course Aims

  • Demonstrate the importance of ethical behaviour for Scottish Solicitors
  • Outline the core values of professional practice and the interlinked nature of Conflict of Interest, Confidentiality and Anti Money Laundering Regulations
  • Illustrate the creation and enforcement of ethical issues and the roles of LSS, SLCC and SSDT

  • Course Learning Outcomes

    Participants will be able on completion of the course to-

  • Identify and analyse ethical problems
  • Appreciate the prime interest of the client
  • Understand the sources and materials available in ethical decision making.
  • Show an awareness of the consequences of ethical failure.

  • The event begins at 1:30pm. Delegate registration is open from 1pm.

    Iain Sim is a qualified solicitor, based in Glasgow. Since 2003 he has taught, coordinated and examined a range of business and commercial subjects at both the University of Strathclyde's School of Law and Strathclyde Business School. He has delivered at MSC, MBA and exec level not only in the UK, but also in the Middle East and Far East. He is the co-author of Commercial Awareness for Lawyers, and also has written many articles for various legal journals.

    Away from law Iain is the Chairman of Friends of TS Queen Mary, a registered charity that owns and is restoring TS Queen Mary. Under his leadership the Charity has structured £5M of cash and in-kind support into the project, and was awarded the Great Scot Charity Award in 2016.
