Renewable Energy Development is a key practice area for property lawyers with the push to meet net zero and the need to improve the security of energy supply in the UK. These developments are usually structured as an option to lease and there are a number of ways in which the terms of the option to lease differ from development leases for other asset classes. The greenfield nature of these development also brings up a number of title issues which landowners and developers need to consider.
This course will consider the key terms of an energy project option and lease and key issues to consider when carrying out title diligence.

Andrea is a senior member of the CMS Real Estate Energy and Infrastructure Team. She is dual qualified and manages the early-stage development pipelines of a number of energy clients and also plays a key support role in the running of major consenting and energy-led projects across wind, solar, hydrogen, battery storage and electricity interconnectors. Andrea advises on the full life cycle of projects from initial development stage through to project financing and divestment.
She has worked on a number of market leading transactions such as securing the land rights for one of the largest offshore wind farms and on the property aspects of one of the largest OFTO divestments.
Andrea is a trusted advisor to a number of key clients in the energy sector and is an active member of Scottish Renewables and sits on their Solar Working Group.
